One of the main reason I put this site up was to mess around with, and eventually learn HTML and XHTML.
Over the last month or so, I have realized that editing code is a good way to do so. There are lots of code snippets available, so starting from scratch isn’t really necessary. Why re-invent the wheel when Frankencode will do?

My weekend project was to build a dynamic ‘about me’ section for my beloved sidebar. I tried some of the standard WP plugins, but wasn’t entirely happy - I wanted something livelier than a picture and text.

I started with the AdRotator widget. This little darling will rotate up to 9 chunks of code, which is perfect for what I wanted.
Then the hacking, cursing, and pacing about asking the cat for advice started.

3 hours later, I have 3 chunks of code that display:

  1. My results from the ” Which Superhero are you?” quiz
  2. Standard pic and text
  3. A simple button that plays audio via the xspf player. By the end of the week this will be a customized message. At the moment, I have a composition of mine playing.

Who knows - One of these days I might even piece together a semi-useful widget. It couldn’t happen without the Open Source community and ideals, not to mention a ton of work by people more experienced than I - Thanks to all of you!!

I’ve been link-hopping, and find myself amused by blog titles as much as their content. The list presented more or less in the order I found them:

x-Everything. I used to be a lot of things. What I’m going to be is a little more complicated.

roll on, manatee - interesting/post on terms googled to arrive at this site

American Sweatpants. Apparently, this guy has some naive folks thinking he is James Bond.

My Brain Hates Me, But I Hate It More

For what it’s worth, most of the above are only a link or two removed from sudiegirl.

I tried to teach our cats to burp once. It was only slightly less popular than the feline interpretative dance class (performed to Law & Order theme song).
Now this guy has some patient pets, and way too much time on his hands.
